WhatsApp chat analyzer — questions

Is my chat uploaded anywhere?

No. The analyzer reads and processes the exported .txt file entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your messages are never sent to a server, stored or shared.

How do I export a WhatsApp chat?

Open the chat, tap the menu (⋮ on Android, or the contact/group name on iPhone), choose “Export chat”, then pick “Without media”. You’ll get a .txt file to upload here.

Does it work for group chats?

Yes. Group exports work great — you’ll see a per-person ranking of messages, words and emojis for everyone in the group.

Which formats are supported?

Both Android and iPhone exports, in 12-hour and 24-hour time. Multi-line messages and different date formats are handled automatically.

Why are some counts approximate?

System messages (like “Messages are end-to-end encrypted”) are skipped, and media appears as “omitted” lines in exports, so media is counted by those markers rather than the files themselves.
