FAQ

AI Flagger — questions

What are “AI writing tells”?

Recurring patterns that make text read like it came from a chatbot: overused em dashes, filler transitions (“Moreover,”, “Overall,”), the “not just X but Y” contrast cadence, rule-of-three lists, buzzwords (delve, leverage, seamless, tapestry) and clichés (“in today’s fast-paced world”). Individually they’re fine; stacked up, they sound robotic.

Does this make my text undetectable by AI detectors?

No — and we won’t claim that. AI detectors use statistical signals, not this word list, so no tool can honestly guarantee a “bypass”. The AI Flagger simply helps you write more clearly and naturally by removing the patterns readers associate with AI copy.

Is my text private?

Yes. All analysis runs locally in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded, logged or sent to a server.

What does it fix automatically?

The safe, low-risk stuff: em dashes → commas, curly quotes → straight, filler openers removed and re-capitalised, “in order to” → “to”. Riskier tells like buzzwords and contrast framing are flagged (with suggestions) so you can rewrite them in your own voice.

Is it free?

Completely free, no sign-up, with unlimited checks — on the web and in the Chrome extension.

Flag AI tells everywhere you write

AI Flagger is also a free Chrome extension — check any text in Gmail, Google Docs, LinkedIn and more, right where you type.
